Typeface of the future
Avenir is a sans-serif typeface designed in 1988 by Adrian Frutiger. The word avenir comes from the french language and means 'future'. This family is inspired from the geometric styles developed in the 1920s, such as Futura. This flat-design animation shows some of the differences between both typefaces in terms of its shapes.
Avenir is a very popular font in this typeface world and nowadays it is used in such important corporate identities, as Amsterdam city does, Apple in some of its apps, BBC Two or Samsung Galaxy, among others.
